Again! I am out of touch!

Sorry to everyone for my inability to stay on top of my blog and regular communications with you. I quote the old latin, "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa (forgive me)" My resolution for the rest of 2011 and especially for Lent is to make sure I update this page regularly and remain in touch! Notice how I didn't automatically state that I would blog everyday or even weekly? I am going to start with baby steps and just try to update this routinely ... I will shoot for weekly but at worst every two weeks.

Has anyone else here begun thinking about a lenten discipline? Remember Lent is just about giving things up in order to suffer with our Lord it is also about taking things on. That's right you can take on a new discipline like reading a book every day for 30 minutes instead of watching TV. Or, you could exercise on a regular basis, or .... the possibilities are endless. Let me here from you about what you are thinking about giving up or taking on for Lent?

Peace and Blessings!

I've never given anything up for Lent, so this will be a first for me. Still thinking about what to give up - don't want to set the bar too high so it won't be impossible to do.

Peace, Mona Shedd

Something people often forget about it taking on a discipline. Something like daily prayer, an hour in the garden, journal writing, exercise etc. etc. Setting the bar in a realistic spot is one of the most important things any of us can do

A couple of weeks ago, I decided I would give up Facebook for Lent because I was wasting too much time on it. Then I decided that I might as well go ahead and start, so FB is already a thing of the past for me. So, for Lent I'm taking on something -- I'm going to intentionally turn off the TV and read something every day. Doesn't like much, but it's a start. Oh, and by the way, I don't miss Facebook at all...

I know of several other people giving up on facebook as well. In fact I believe that is Kyle's plan. I'm gonna try to get back to reading more often. I can't give up TV because NCAA hoops is gonna reach its apex in about a 10 days! Then the NBA playoffs ... so my goal is to add some reading into every evening. A friend of mine gives up looking in the mirror. I am serious he doesn't look in them mirror and has to intentionally avoid mirrors and windows etc. Think about the number of mirrors and reflect devices you encounter every day.
